Here’s a video on what you can expect and how to prepare for
our first visit.
To best enjoy your float experience we recommend the following:
Eat a small meal an hour ahead of time so your stomach doesn’t sound like an angry monster while you are floating.
Avoid caffeine for a few hours before your float (especially if you are sensitive to it).
Avoid shaving 24 hours before, as salt stings open cuts (we do provide vaseline just in case!)
Write down your to do list before you come in. It will help your mind unwind more if it’s on paper and out of your head.
Expect nothing. We've found that letting go of any expectations allows you to have the best float experience.
Everyone’s first float experience is unique and because it is a new experience it can take some people 2-3 floats to feel the full effects of floating. Because of this we offer an Introductory Package of 3 floats for Buy 2 get 1 FREE! We recommend this package for time clients.
Even people with extreme claustrophobia report no problems with floating. You’re always in control of your environment, and can choose the style of float pod that best meets your needs. We offer two types of float pods and both have the ability to leave the light and music on or off during the float - buttons for these are right by your side. You can also simply keep the pod/door open to your comfort level, and can get out anytime.
We have robust sanitation procedures for the facility & float pods and it is our priority to provide a clean, safe environment for the perfect relaxation experience.
We follow the strict guidelines of the North Carolina State Health Department as well as the worldwide Float Tank Association (FTA) to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness. Our floatation equipment is cleaned after each and every float through a rigorous sanitation process:
Before and after every client session, the entire volume of the saltwater solution is filtered at least 3-4 times through our state-of-the-art filtration system and a 4 step sterilization & filtration system including:
Two filtration units including a Pentair Cartridge Filter & a custom X-100 Micron Filtration System with a 1 micron filter, FDA compliant for drinking water.
Ultraviolet (UV) light sanitation
Ozone purification system
Residual disinfectant
The system operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, performing a full filtration during heating cycles in idle mode for additional sanitation. Every guest is asked to shower BEFORE and after their float and discouraged from wearing a bathing suit as a clean, showered body is best for our pristine float environment.
1,500 lbs. of Epsom salt that are dissolved into the water acts as a natural disinfectant.
Daily water testing to ensure water is perfectly clean and safe, so you can relax knowing the environment is completely sterile.
No! A bathing suit is not required and we recommend floating nude which helps remove the sensory of touch. The entire experience is in a completely private room with an individual shower and all the amenities you'll need for a great experience.
While most of our guests tend to be adults, teens or younger children might benefit from floating as well. We allow minors to experience floating only with parental/guardian supervision on site. Please contact our friendly staff to learn more and discuss if floating is right for your teens or younger children.
Yes, pregnant women love floating! In fact, you may experience some of the greatest relief from floating—physically and mentally. The added weight and pressure on the mother’s body is likely to cause pain and discomfort, the weightless impact of floating can provide much relief!
Avoid floating until after the first trimester and always consult with your doctor before booking a float.
We provide all of the necessary amenities you’ll need to float and a bathing suite is not required.
If you have longer hair, we recommend bringing a hair brush. We provide towels, robest, shampoo, body wash, earplugs, & a hair dryer. Extra towels are available only upon request.
Once you’re inside the float pods, the experience is practically identical. Both of our pods are spacious and offer the ability to customize your float session by adding ambient music and/or light.
The Evolution Float Pod is an egg shaped pod that is described as feeling womb-like. The lid can be adjusted from fully open to fully closed. The Deluxe Float Suite is a room style suite with a 7ft ceiling that includes a starlight feature. Try each type and see if you have a preference!
No, it's totally safe, happens all the time, and will likely be one of the best naps of your life! The water is so buoyant that you stay afloat effortlessly. When the session is over an exit message plays to let you know the session has ended.
You might be wondering if you can float if you’ve recently colored your hair, and the answer is… it depends.
Many bright hair dyes (red, blue, purple, etc) will run in the float pods for up to 2 - 4 weeks after application, which can both diminish the vibrancy of your coloration and cause irreparable tinting to the white pod interiors. We require you wait at least 2 weeks to be sure there is no chance of color running out and check if the water running through your hair is fully clear prior to your visit. If there is still some color coming out you should wait to float.
However, if you’ve only bleached your hair or colored with a natural color, with no bleed, you’re okay to float right away!
Yes. Just follow the same protocol you would for a swimming pool.
While you can float every day without harm, we find that the relaxing effects of a one-hour float typically last beyond that day. Floating has cumulative benefits and for best results, we recommend regular sessions, and many clients find that floating weekly to monthly provides the most benefits.
Our monthly membership is the best way to float routinely and is a great way to invest in yourself and personal wellness. Learn more about our membership here.
The float water is kept at a skin neutral temperature between 93.5 - 94 degrees fahrenheit. The goal is to reduce distracting stimuli, like touch, so the line between body and water is erased.
However, each person’s body is different, so we make every effort to find the right temperature for your ideal float experience. It can take 2- 3 floats to get that perfect temperature so we ask that you communicate with us about your float experience so we can ensure a great float experience.
